Louisville Collegiate occupies a compact historic campus located in the Cherokee Triangle neighborhood of Louisville Kentucky. As the school approaches its Centennial it has looked to craft a plan for how to best utilize the spaces that they have and then add spaces for expansion of dining and performing arts. The program also includes transforming or replacing the existing library to provide a true learning commons that will support the school’s commitment to project based collaborative learning. As the school looks to grow, finding ways to collaborate with the neighbors and historic commission to find mutually acceptable solutions is a critical part of the process. The goal is to create a vibrant, unified campus with distinct age appropriate centers for the lower, middle and upper schools.
OMR met with faculty, administration, students, alumni, board members and staff to understand all aspects of the school programs. We also developed a comprehensive site and building analysis to understand the existing buildings and how they are used. From this we developed options for how best to accommodate the programmatic needs.
