the albany academies

Albany Academies consists of two school campuses located across the road from each other. Formerly the Albany Academy and The Albany Academy for Girls, the two schools have recently combined to provide single gender education for early grades with a blend at the upper grades. The school has embarked on a combined campus plan to support their capital campaign as both schools approach their Bicentennial. Improvements that are contemplated include a new combined gym for boys and girls, updated dining for the girls side of campus, as well as updated gathering spaces, science labs, and performing arts spaces. One of the main challenges is to create a campus that provides separate identities for the boys and girls schools in the early grades but which will then provide an overall framework that feels integrated for the upper grades.

OMR has been working closely with the administration and faculty to clearly define the needs of all programs and to understand balance between the two parts of the school, the educational goals of both campuses and the priorities for the school overall. The project is currently in the design phase.
